ANti-bullying schools' showcase eVeNt 2015 AT FACEBOOK'S HEADQUARTERS, ireland

In April the team, three schools and a host of special guests spent the day at Facebook's Headquarters in Dublin to celebrate the work of Irish students who are working hard to tackle online and offline bullying in their schools.

Our annual Anti-Bullying Ambassadors Showcase Event provides a chance for the schools we have trained to showcase their work in front of an audience of other schools and a host of special guests. We visit every school we select to be a Showcase School and make a video of their work which is then shown on the day. The Anti-Bullying Ambassadors from the schools are presented with a Diana Award from our special celebrity guests to celebrate and recognise their hard work to prevent and tackle bullying in their schools. Check out the video below to see what we got up to during the day!

This Year's Showcase Schools

Newbridge Integrated College

Newbridge is an Integrated College in Dublin. Since being trained in October 2014 the students have gone above and beyond in their role as Anti-Bullying Ambassadors to tackle and prevent bullying and cyberbullying happening in their school. The students kick-started their anti bullying work by holding an open evening to introduce staff, parents and students to the Anti-Bullying Ambassadors. YouTuber Marcus Butler recently visited the Anti-Bullying Ambassadors at their school and took part in the Ambassadors’ e-safety session to encourage students to stay safe online and be upstanders, not bystanders when they see cyber bullying. Marcus also celebrated the Ambassadors’ work with a balloon launch.

St Patrick's Primary School

Every day is an anti-bullying day thanks to the Anti-Bullying Ambassadors at St Patrick’s Primary School! The Ambassadors are preventing bullying in their school through spreading positive vibes throughout the school. They are currently doing a #100DaysofHappiness campaign. Each day they are running a new feel good activity to encourage students to be confident in themselves, kind to each other and celebrate diversity. Some of the anti-bullying activities include crush an ANT (anti-negative thought), happy hug days, smile days and writing a supportive song. All of this has been recorded on their happiness diary cam so make sure you have a watch!

Parkhall Integrated College

Ambassadors from Parkhall Integrated College in Antrim, Northern Ireland were trained by the Diana Award in November 2013. The Ambassadors act as Peer Mentors to the younger students and offer valuable support to them when they join Secondary School, or if they need someone to talk to. Through their ‘Stand Up, Speak Out’ programme the Ambassadors help build confidence and resilience in other students and advise them if they are being bullied or are having friendship issues. Every year a new set of Ambassadors are trained to help prevent and tackle bullying in the school, ensuring that the programme is sustainable and made an integral part of the school.
